Day Skipper - both Tidal & Non Tidal

The day skipper Course is conducted on board a cruising yacht (7 to 13m
LOA), to teach pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling up to
the standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day
in tidal waters with which a student is familiar. The Candidate will need
to be able to demonstrate their ability to direct and organize crew, give
clear and concise directions. This course is designed for those wising
to take the step towards Skipper. Candidates would need to have completed
a shorebased Coastal Navigation course as a prerequisite. Held over a
number of evenings and including a 4 day live aboard segment with a night
sailing component whilst sailing on Port Philip.
A Day Skipper candidate will be required pass both a shore based test
and practical exam to be awarded certificates.

This is the skippering course which does for skippers what competent Crew
does for Crews. It concentrates on taking the huge step from being a crew
member to that of being in charge and control of skippering a yacht. .
FORMAT: 4 x 2 hours evening followed by 4 days live aboard sailing, this
is the sharp end of sailing, there is a number of prerequisites required,
so please check with us as to your eligibility.
Max. 4 students per yacht. Includes course - homework and lecture notes.
